A little 'hello' on here, the Newsblog for the wedding dresses part of my business :-)
My work patterns are pretty erratic and unpredictable - don't quite know why (!), so I tend to work at least 2 things alongside each other at any one time. I have a small commission on at the moment (although not a wedding dress, but an item which could easily be worn to a wedding) - it's interesting as it's actually a refashioning of an existing garment - upcycling a beautiful Chinese cream silk jacquard skirt. I have made a fair few items for this particular lady, which she always loves, so a pleasure to carry on the work, as it's so appreciated!
As usual, there are several other threads going along at the same time - teaching pattern cutting at the Arts Centre in Banbury, developing the classes in my lovely studio here, (quite a number of new students, with some coming in pairs now, and someone wanting to come from Singapore for an intensive course to learn couture and wedding dress specific techniques!), requests to verify student work, workshops for teachers .....as ever, I have several other projects that I'd like to get off the ground but these need a bit of time and investment :-) so will have to wait a bit - hopefully the summer will give me a few more hours in the day, and help my determination to get these things off the ground! Hard though, when the bills must be paid, but I'm ever hopeful!!
And then of course, theres my yearning to do some painting again.....pictures that is, not walls.
A couple of oldies here.....
